Renter Requirements
Age & License Requirements
- Renters must be 18 years of age or older
- A valid U.S. driver's license is required at the time of pickup
- Your license must have been held for a minimum of 1 year
- International renters must present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their foreign license
ID Verification
- A government-issued photo ID must be presented at pickup
- A government issued photo ID must be attached when signing the Rental Agreement
- The name on your ID must match the name on the reservation exactly
- Chariot Rentals reserves the right to refuse service if ID cannot be verified
Insurance Requirements
- Renters must carry valid personal auto insurance that extends coverage to rental vehicles
- Proof of insurance must be provided before the vehicle is released
Vehicle & Service Guidelines
Mileage Policy
- Each rental includes 120 miles per day
- Per-mile overage charges vary by vehicle and will be clearly stated in your booking
- Mileage is tracked via odometer at pickup and drop-off
- For unlimited miles please contact us directly to discuss pricing (6:00 AM – 11:30 PM CST)
Fuel Policy All vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as received at pickup. Fuel level is documented at the time of pickup and verified upon return.
- If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than received a refueling charge will apply based on current fuel prices plus a $25 service fee
- A Pre-paid Refuel add-on is available at checkout for $79 — select this option to skip the hassle of refueling before your return
- The Tesla Model S Plaid must be returned at the same charge level as received — pre-paid charging arrangements can be made by contacting [email protected]
Cleaning Policy
- Vehicles must be returned in the same condition as received. A cleaning fee of up to $300 will be charged if the vehicle is returned with any of the following:
- Excessive dirt or mud on interior or exterior
- Food or drink spills
- Pet hair
- Smoke or vaping odor
- Stains on seats or carpet
- Excessive trash that requires more than 5 minutes to remove
- Normal wear and light cleaning is expected and will not trigger a fee. The cleaning fee amount will be determined based on the level of cleaning required and will be charged to the payment method on file.
Delivery & Pickup Service
- We offer vehicle delivery and pickup within 50 miles of Homer Glen, IL
- Delivery includes O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport
- Delivery fee is dynamicaly priced and adjusted at checkout based on the distance (mi) of your pickup address (6:00 AM – 11:30 PM CST)
- Contactless self-service pickup and drop-off is available 24/7 at our Homer Glen location
- Live support is available daily (6:00 AM – 11:30 PM CST)
Driver Eligibility & Prohibited Uses
Who Can Drive
- Only the approved renter on file may operate the vehicle
- Additional drivers must be pre-approved by Chariot Rentals prior to the rental period
Prohibited Uses — The following are strictly not allowed:
- Track use or racing of any kind
- Off-road driving
- Smoking or vaping inside the vehicle
- Transporting pets
- Using the vehicle to push or tow another vehicle
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Transporting illegal substances or engaging in any illegal activity
- Driving outside of agreed mileage or geographic limits
Violations Any violation of the above may result in immediate termination of the rental, forfeiture of the security deposit, and additional charges billed to the renter.
Late Return Policy
Chariot Rentals offers a 30 minute grace period on all returns at no additional charge. After the grace period the following fees apply:
- $100/hr up to 3 hrs, then full daily rate
Late return fees will be automatically charged to the payment method on file. To avoid late fees please contact us at [email protected] or call 773-703-3142 as soon as possible if you anticipate a late return.
Important — Reservation Cancellation at Check-In
The following situations will result in immediate cancellation of your reservation with no refund issued:
Invalid, expired, digital, or temporary driver's license
presented at check-in
Refusal to provide the security deposit at check-in
