Terms of Service — Chariot Rentals

By accessing chariotrentals.com, booking a vehicle, or completing a reservation, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and Rental Agreement. These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Chariot Rentals LLC and are legally binding upon acceptance. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Definitions

a. "Agreement" means all terms on this page, the rental record, any documents signed by you or to which you have electronically consented, and any documents sent electronically in connection with your rental.

b. "You" or "Your" means the person who books the reservation, any Authorized Driver, and any person or organization to whom charges are billed at your direction.

c. "We," "Us," or "Our" means Chariot Rentals LLC.

e. "Authorized Driver" means any person(s) other than you who may be authorized to operate the Vehicle.

f. "Rental Period" means the period starting from when the Vehicle is rented to you and ending on the date and time it is returned to Us.

g. "Rental Charges" means all fees, charges, and costs payable by you under this Agreement.

h. "Loss of Use" means the loss of Our ability to rent the Vehicle due to damage or loss during your rental. Calculated by multiplying the number of days the Vehicle is inoperable by the per-day rate on your original reservation.

i. "Diminished Value" means the actual cash value of the Vehicle just prior to damage or loss, less the value after repair or replacement.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age with a valid U.S. driver's license to rent a vehicle. All renters are subject to identity verification and driver's license review prior to vehicle release. Digital and temporary licenses are not acceptable. We may scan your license to verify authenticity and confirm your identity. We reserve the right to deny or terminate any rental at our sole discretion. Authorized Drivers must also be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and carry adequate insurance.

3. Pickup, Drop-off, & Return Policy

Chariot Rentals offers two vehicle access options: self-pickup from our Homer Glen, IL location at 12457 Walden Rd, or delivery to a location of your choice at the time of booking.

Important: Vehicle delivery is a one-way service. If you selected delivery, Chariot Rentals will not retrieve or pick up the vehicle from the delivery location at the end of your rental period. Regardless of how the vehicle was delivered, all vehicles must be returned by the guest to our location at 12457 Walden Rd, Homer Glen, IL 60491 by the agreed upon return date and time.

Failure to return the vehicle on time will result in additional daily rental charges at the standard daily rate until the vehicle is returned. Vehicles not returned within 24 hours of the agreed return time may be reported as unreturned and subject to legal action including vehicle recovery and law enforcement involvement.

Live customer support is available daily from 6:00 AM – 11:30 PM CST. Any issues outside of support hours should be reported by voicemail or email at [email protected].

4. Reservations & Payment

All bookings require a valid payment method. We accept credit/debit cards, cash, Zelle, Venmo, and CashApp. A security deposit is required at the time of booking.This amount varies per vehicle and is stated on product pages. All charges are subject to final audit, and you authorize Chariot Rentals LLC to charge your payment method for any amounts due under this Agreement, including additional charges incurred during the rental period.

5. Security Deposit

A security deposit is required and collected at check-in. It is not applied toward your rental charges. The deposit amount varies by vehicle and is disclosed at the time of booking.

The deposit is fully refundable after the vehicle is returned and inspected, provided there are no damages, fees, or outstanding balances. Refunds may take 5–7 business days to process.

You authorize Chariot Rentals LLC to apply the security deposit toward any fees, damages, fuel charges, mileage overages, or other liabilities under this Agreement without requiring additional authorization.

6. Cancellations & Refunds

Chariot Rentals has a general no-refund policy on completed reservations. However, we understand that circumstances change and we handle cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis within the following guidelines:

•        Reservations canceled more than 48 hours before check-in are eligible for a full refund or credit toward a future reservation.

•        Credits are valid for 1 year from the original purchase date.

•        Check-in cancellations: Presentation of an invalid, expired, digital, or temporary driver’s license, or refusal to provide the required security deposit, will result in immediate cancellation with no refund.

•        Emergency cancellations: In the event of a documented emergency such as severe weather, serious illness, or family emergency, Chariot Rentals may issue a one-time courtesy credit equal to the amount paid toward a future reservation, at our discretion. Contact must be made within 24 hours of scheduled pickup. Credits are valid for 1 year and are not guaranteed.

•        Failure to pick up the vehicle within 2 hours of the designated time will be considered a no-show. The reservation will be canceled with no refund.

7. Vehicle Use

Vehicles may only be operated by the approved renter and any Authorized Drivers listed on the Agreement. You are responsible for ensuring all Authorized Drivers comply with this Agreement. You remain financially responsible even if the vehicle is operated by an Authorized Driver.

Prohibited uses include but are not limited to: track use, off-road driving, racing or speed tests, towing, transporting animals, smoking or vaping, driving under the influence, any illegal activity, transport outside the United States without prior approval, refueling with the wrong fuel type, or use by anyone not listed as an Authorized Driver.

We maintain a 100% smoke-free fleet. Evidence of smoking or vaping inside any vehicle will result in a cleaning fee of $300 or more.

8. GPS Tracking & Remote Disable Policy

All Chariot Rentals vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking and telematics technology that monitors vehicle location, speed, mileage, and diagnostics in real time. By completing a reservation, the renter acknowledges and consents to this monitoring for the entire duration of the rental period. Tracking data may be used to verify mileage, assess applicable overage charges, and ensure compliance with the terms of this Agreement.

Chariot Rentals reserves the right to remotely disable any vehicle without prior notice under the following circumstances:

•        The vehicle has not been returned by the agreed return date and time and the renter is unreachable.

•        The vehicle is suspected to be stolen or involved in unauthorized use.

•        The renter has materially violated the terms of this Agreement.

•        The safety of the vehicle or third parties is at risk.

Remote disabling will only be performed as a last resort and in accordance with applicable law. Chariot Rentals assumes no liability for any inconvenience, costs, or damages resulting from a remote disable initiated due to renter non-compliance.

9. Damage & Liability

Renters are responsible for any damage to, loss, or theft of the Vehicle during the Rental Period, regardless of fault. This includes cost of repairs, actual cash retail value if stolen, Loss of Use, Diminished Value, and all administrative expenses.

You must report all accidents, breakdowns, or incidents of theft and vandalism to us and the police as soon as discovered. Only authorized repairs or services are permitted with our prior approval.

Typical damage fees include:

•        Smoking/Vaping Cleaning Fee: $300

•        Blown Speaker: Varies per market price speaker

•        Curbed Wheels: Varies per market price of damaged wheel

•        Rock Chips: $50 per chip

•        Excessive Dirtiness: Up to $300

10. Insurance Requirements

Proof of insurance must be provided at the time of rental for all Authorized Drivers. Minimum coverage requirements:

•        $100,000 per person for bodily injury

•        $100,000 per accident for bodily injury

•        $100,000 for property damage

If insurance does not meet these requirements, access to the fleet may be denied. In the event of an accident, you must file a claim with your insurance within 24 hours. If insurance denies coverage, your security deposit may be used to cover damages.

An unauthorized driver operating the vehicle terminates any insurance coverage provided under this Agreement.

11. Late Returns

Chariot Rentals offers a 30-minute grace period on all returns at no additional charge. After the grace period:

•        $100/hr for up to 3 hours

•        At the 3-hour mark, a full daily rate is charged.

Late return fees will be automatically charged to the payment method on file. If you anticipate a late return, contact us immediately at [email protected] or call 773-703-3142. Failure to communicate a late return may result in additional penalties at Chariot Rentals’ discretion.

12. Fuel Policy

All vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as received at pickup. Fuel level is documented at the time of pickup and verified upon return.

•        If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a refueling charge will apply based on current fuel prices plus a $25 service fee.

•        A Pre-Paid Refuel add-on is available at checkout for $79 — select this option to skip the hassle of refueling before your return.

•        Any electric vehicle must be returned at the same charge level as received. 

13. Mileage

Each rental includes 120 miles per day. Excess mileage will incur a per-mile overage charge that varies by vehicle make and model. The applicable rate is disclosed at the time of booking.

14. Traffic Violations & Tolls

You are responsible for all traffic violations, parking tickets, and tolls incurred during the Rental Period. An administrative fee of $50 per violation may apply for each violation processed through Chariot Rentals.

15. Background Check & Motor Vehicle Record

Clients must undergo an annual background check and a biannual motor vehicle record (MVR) check to maintain good driver standing. Chariot Rentals LLC reserves the right to revoke fleet access at any time if policies are not adhered to. If access is revoked, the client will be notified via email, phone, voicemail, or mail.

16. Personal Property

Chariot Rentals assumes no responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property left in or carried in any vehicle. You assume all risk for personal property left in the vehicle.

17. Indemnification & Limitation of Liability

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold Chariot Rentals LLC, its employees, officers, and agents harmless from all claims, liability, costs, and attorney fees arising from this Agreement, including third-party claims.

We make no warranties regarding the Vehicle. Unless prohibited by law, you release Chariot Rentals LLC from any liability for consequential, special, or punitive damages. If any provision of this Agreement is deemed void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain valid and enforceable.

18. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

Before asserting a claim in any proceeding, both parties agree to provide written notice of the claim 30 days in advance and make a reasonable good faith effort to resolve the dispute.

All unresolved disputes shall be adjudicated by binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association (AAA) pursuant to AAA’s then-current rules for commercial arbitration. Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking emergency relief in a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary to prevent irreparable harm. By agreeing to arbitration, both parties voluntarily waive the right to a jury trial for covered disputes.

19. Modifications

Chariot Rentals reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the site or services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Rental period extensions must be approved in writing.

20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois without regard to conflicts-of-law principles. Any enforcement action must be brought in state or federal court in Cook County, Illinois.

21. Information Collection & Verification

Prior to each rental, Chariot Rentals LLC requires the following from all renters and Authorized Drivers:

  • A valid, non-digital, non-temporary government-issued driver’s license
  • Proof of active auto insurance meeting the minimum coverage requirements outlined in Section 10
  • A completed identity verification, which may include license scanning or photo capture

We also collect the following personal information as part of the booking and rental process: full name, phone number, email address, and home address.

By providing this information, you consent to Chariot Rentals LLC collecting, storing, and using it for the following purposes: verifying your identity, confirming eligibility, processing your rental, complying with applicable law, and from time to time, sending you promotional offers and marketing communications related to Chariot Rentals services.

You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Opting out of marketing will not affect your ability to rent from us. Your information will not be sold to third parties.
